Canasta
Hand and Foot Canasta is played on the first Monday and the third Wednesday of the month. The session on the first Monday is for beginners, or those that would like a refresher course. Help is given throughout the game by the more experienced players.
The Wednesday session is for the experienced players and is faster moving than the Monday session. However, if you really like the game, you will enjoy attending either day. A contribution of $1.00 is requested from each player. This collection is divided among the first, second and last (booby) place winners.
The starting time is 11 a.m. for both days. We play one round of four hands and then break for lunch, which each member brings for him or herself. We then play two rounds of four hands each. The session usually ends between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.
We have an annual potluck luncheon, which is really appreciated after all the sandwiches and cottage cheese that was eaten the rest of the year.
